Sovereign immunity does not protect Air Force from claim that it was
negligent in processing enlistment of individual who provided a
contradictory medical and psychiatric history by failing to undertake
further mental or psychiatric review that would have disclosed the existence
of a serious mental condition.

Unsolicited referral payments were not illegal in California in 1988, and
as
a result, the $1.7 million deduction appellant took on his tax return for
that year should not have been used to calculate the base offense level for
his tax conviction without first determining whether all of the deducted
payments were actually for solicited referrals.

REESE v. JEFFERSON SCHOOL DISTRICT (3/29/00 - No.
9935543)
Since female students failed to provide evidence of gender-related
discrimination or a system-wide disparate impact in punishment, district
court did not violate Equal Protection Clause by punishing them for throwing
water balloons in boys’ bathroom and failing to punish male students for
alleged misconduct of which it had no notice.
